The most acclaimed musical since Hamilton is coming to the ASU Gammage Auditorium this April courtesy of its debut national tour, and because tickets for every Hadestown Phoenix performance are on sale now, you can catch it live on the Arizona State University campus! Anaïs Mitchell's musical update of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice was first staged in Barre, Vermont back in 2006. Sensing that it would be too difficult to move it to New York, Mitchell turned it into an acclaimed concept album in 2010 — which led to a meeting with director Rachel Chavkin two years later. After several revisions, a new staging debuted Off-Broadway in 2016, followed by a move to Broadway in 2019. Fourteen Tony Award nominations and eight wins later, it's one of the hottest shows in America, and its new tour is one of the most hotly anticipated in recent memory!
Set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland inspired by the Great Depression, Hadestown is the story of the musician Orpheus, who will risk everything to save his true love Eurydice from the clutches of the powerful owner of a back-breaking and soul-crushing factory. Don't miss your chance to see it live in the Valley of the Sun this spring — check out the schedule below to learn more, and get your Hadestown Phoenix Tickets right away. Because if you don't, some other Broadway buff will!
